What's the difference?
Public Universities offer bachelor’s degrees, masters degrees, and doctorate degrees. In order to get accepted, they look at SAT’s, ACT’s, GPA and your school experience. Some universities look at 20 to 30,000 even 50,000 applicants, and then accept around 5- 6,000. In other words, they're very competitive! State Colleges cost approximately $18-$25,000 year to attend with tuition being $6-8,000 per year.
Community Colleges have changed names to be called State Colleges. They offer two year degrees to get ready and good work or to transfer to a university. Many of them are even offering bachelor’s degrees! The requirement to get in, is a high school diploma or GED. There is no barrier to being accepted which is wonderful! The cost is approximately $2,000-$3,000 for tuition per year.
